Join us to  master tapestry techniques and create beautiful coasters. Whether you're a beginner or have some weaving experience, this class offers a welcoming environment to explore your creativity. Denise Mandel, our weaving diva, will guide you through each step, ensuring you leave with both skills and stunning pieces to showcase at home. Frame Loom rental included.

Supplies Needed:

  • Yarn: 6 colors of worsted weight yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

If class minimum is not met by 48 hours before class start, class will be cancelled. Registrants will be contacted via phone and/or email, and refunded the full class fee to their original form of payment.

Class Policies

Your Host

Denise Mandel, a Master Weaver, earned her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1983 and later explored Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she worked as an assistant weaver and owned "Original Woven Designs." After moving back to St. Louis in 1988, she established a home studio holding solo shows from 2004-2010. In 2012, she exhibited at “Farley Hall” and “Joe’s Café Gallery,” focusing on her weaving retrospective.

Since 1990, her work has been featured in Craft Alliance, where she has served as a weaving instructor and department head since 1989. Mandel produced an instructional video in 1996 and created five Seasonal Tapestries for the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica, including a tapestry of Pope John Paul II's coat of arms. In 2020, Denise had a one woman weaving show at Googd Weather Gallery and in 2024 at Angad Arts Hotel. Her works are in collections across the U.S. and Mexico, and she continues to explore weaving through international travels and classes.
