My First Sweater: Top-Down Raglan w/ Becky

A 6-session series knitting the Lento pullover by Jonna Helin

You know how to knit and purl, but a sweater has always felt like a leap. This class is here to help you make your first sweater right before heading into the winter!

Over six sessions, spaced out so you always have time to knit at home before we meet again, we'll work through the Lento pullover by Jonna Helin. The Lento is a beloved, well-tested top-down raglan with a soft, relaxed fit. You'll learn all the techniques a top-down sweater asks of you, one step at a time with plenty of room to ask questions and troubleshoot before moving on.

What You'll Learn:

• How to read and swatch for a sweater pattern
• Short-row shoulder shaping
• Raglan increases and how a top-down yoke takes shape
• Dividing for body and sleeves
• Working in the round, picking up stitches, and finishing with a stretchy bind off
• Blocking your finished sweater

• Session 1: Yarn Shopping & Getting Started
• Session 2: Shaping the Yoke
• Session 3: Dividing Body and Sleeves
• Session 4 & 5: Body & Sleeves
• Session 6: Finishing

Pre-requisites

• Knit, purl, basic increases/decreases, reading a simple pattern
• No prior sweater experience required

Materials:

• Worsted-weight yarn
• US 6 / 4mm circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• US 10 / 6mm circular needle, 32"" or longer (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• 5 stitch markers
• tapestry needle
• scrap yarn/try-on cords

Homework:

• Take bust measurement and review pattern on Ravelry

Minimum Number of Students: 3

If class minimum is not met by 48 hours before class start, class will be cancelled. Registrants will be contacted via phone and/or email, and refunded the full class fee to their original form of payment.

Class Policies

The schedule presented is the available time for the instructor. If you are unable to attend a class session, a 1:1 lesson can be scheduled at an additional cost.

Yarncom must be notified a minimum of 48 hours before the first session begins if you will not be attending. Refunds will not be available for cancellations within 48 hours of the first session.

Credit card refunds for cancellations are available with a $15 administration fee.

Store credit refunds for cancellations are available at no additional fee. The credit will be added to your customer profile.

You may reschedule your class up to 48 hours before the first session if the class is offered at another time.

Exceptions at management discretion.
