Knitting 204: Yarn Lab - Exploring Fiber Behavior
Why does one sweater hold its shape while another grows? Why is one shawl light and drapey while another feels warm and lofty?
In this hands-on class, we'll explore how fiber content affects the finished fabric. Working with swatches made from wool, alpaca, silk, cotton, bamboo, and acrylic, you'll compare how each fiber feels, knits, and behaves before and after blocking.
Together, we'll examine qualities like drape, elasticity, stitch definition, warmth, breathability, and durability so you can better understand how fiber choice influences the outcome of your projects.
By the end of class, you'll have the confidence to choose yarn based on the fabric you want to create, not just the color or what's recommended in the pattern.
