Sampler Square Series with Heather Swan (aka Yarn Queen)
Kick off the new year with texture you can feel! January’s class features a classic basketweave pattern, the perfect way to start our year-long sampler journey. Using simple knits and purls arranged in a clever repeat, this square creates a beautifully woven look that’s cozy, timeless, and deeply satisfying to knit.
You’ll work a 16" sampler square designed to stand on its own or become part of a larger project, whether that’s a 4' x 6' sampler blanket, a future poncho, or bag. Basketweave is an excellent confidence-building pattern that looks complex but relies on foundational skills, making it a strong (and fun!) way to begin the series.
This class focuses on reading stitch patterns, maintaining even tension, and keeping track of repeating sections, skills you’ll use again and again throughout the year.
