Faith is joining us at the Sunday Stitch Group, June 28 to share her love of yarn and see what fun things you are working on! Her yarn will remain with us until July 5! Don't miss out on this great opportunity to grab some yarn dyed in Alaska as well as learn more about this St. Louis native that now calls Alaska home.
Faith has been dying yarn and Fiber since 2021 while her husband and she were living in Fairbanks, AK. After graduating college (a B.S. in interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and a minor in horticulture), she pursued Sheep Shearing school in Washington state and completed the program, knowing how to safely shear sheep.
She now calls Homer, Alaska my permanent residence and home. This small coastal town focuses on fishing/wildlife, local economy, environment and the arts! It is the perfect blend of my passions for plants, animals and performing and visual arts.
The name “Gemischt” comes from Faith's love of the German language through arias she performed in high school. It means blended. She believed it was fitting given that the fiber arts are a blend of the people you know, the skills they have shared, and the literal blend of colors that brings the greatest joy to hold and see and feel!
Your Host
A high school graduate of Grand Center Arts Academy in STL, the arts have always driven my interests. At the age of 10, I would request my mom go to the hardware store while I picked out dozens of paint samples…this was routine. Their destiny was being cut out, glued to a poster board, and plastered all over my room!
