About this experience

Class Schedule: Wednesday, July 17   6 - 8 PM

Instructor: Ann Konzen

This class is one session long. Please ensure you are available for the session before booking your spot. See cancellation policy below.

Do you want to add some interest to your knitting but you're scared of cables? Don't worry! Ann will teach you how to identify and knit cables using charts and without using a cable needle.

Participants should be able to cast on, knit, and purl without Ann's help.

Homework:

Before class, using smooth, light colored wool or wool blend yarn, and needles** that make a suitable fabric the following homework swatches:

1. Cast on 24 stitches. Work knit 2, purl 2 ribbing for 1 inch. Leave live and ready to work.

2. Cast on 24 stitches. Work knit 4, purl 2 ribbing for 1 inch. Leave live and ready to work.

3. Cast on 32 stitches. Work knit 6, purl 2 ribbing for 1 inch. Leave live and ready to work.

**hint: use a sharper needle type for this exercise, like Chiaogoo or Dreamz as a sharper needle will help in the cabling process.

Techniques You'll Learn:

  • How to knit cables without a cable needle

This is NOT an absolute beginner class. Please be aware that class time will not be spent on reteaching the aforementioned prerequisites.

Supplies to Bring:

  • Your 3 swatches completed per homework instructions. (Swatches should be kept live so you can easily pick them up and work cables during class)

    • 3 smooth, light colored wool or wool blend yarns used for swatching: this can be yarn you have in stash

    • 3 pairs of knitting needles in sizes recommended for the yarn you are using. (Ann recommends a sharper needle, like Chiaogoo, as a sharper needle will help in the cabling process)
